    The Sacred Wars

    The Sacred Wars

Wars declared from the altar, not the throne.

The Sacred Wars are the named conflicts of the post-Fall age in which the Basilica raised its voice against powers that had set themselves against the Most High. They were declared from the altar, not from any throne. The crown that fought them did so as a servant of the bell.

There is no agreement among chroniclers on how many Sacred Wars there have been. The Basilica numbers them by the bells that broke during their declaration. Others number them by the chapels that did not survive.

The Sacred Wars are not ended. They are only resting.

We number them by the bells that broke.
