The Bells of Annwyn are the great bronze tongues hung in the towers of the bell-city above the Basilica's eastern aisle. They were cast in the second age of the Sacred Wars and consecrated by a rite the Order no longer remembers in full.
They do not ring the hour. They ring the office — vow, departure, threshold, the thinning of the veil. The bell-masters of Annwyn are sworn to interpret the bells' silences as carefully as their voices. A silence in Annwyn is news the Basilica reads first.
