Privacy & Analytics
Plainly said. No dark patterns.
SacredGrimdark.com is a small author website. We measure how the site is used so the writing and art reach the right readers. We collect as little as we can, we do not sell anything about you, and we do not send your browsing activity to advertising networks.
Anonymous first-party analytics (always on)
Our own measurement counts things like: which page you arrived on, whether the visit came from a search engine, a social post or an advertisement, how long a page held attention (three, five, ten, fifteen seconds), whether a Living Painting played, which pages were opened next, and whether someone left for Amazon or joined the newsletter.
These are stored as daily totals. No cookie is set for this, no advertising identifier is kept, no device fingerprint is taken, and no profile is built that could follow you between visits or across other websites. It stays on our own servers and is not shared with anyone.
Optional: Microsoft Clarity
Only if you choose Allow optional analytics do we load Microsoft Clarity, which produces heatmaps and anonymised recordings of page interactions so we can find broken layouts and confusing pages. Clarity is run by Microsoft, so when it is enabled, information about your visit is processed by Microsoft as well as by us, and it sets its own cookies. If you decline, none of it loads. You can change your mind at any time using the buttons below.
Details you choose to give us
- Newsletter and Fragments — your email address only, stored with MailerLite, used to send the welcome sequence and occasional updates. Unsubscribe links are in every email.
- Contact form — name, email, and message, stored privately so the author can reply.
We record which campaign a signup came from so we know which promotions bring readers in. We do not attach a person's earlier anonymous browsing history to their email address.
Facebook and Instagram advertisements
When you arrive from one of our advertisements, the link carries campaign labels. We read those labels so we know which advert brought you here — that is our own record, kept by us. We do not use the Meta Pixel, we do not use the Conversions API, and no page you view or action you take on this site is reported back to Facebook, Instagram or Meta by us. The advertising click identifier that Facebook adds to the link is discarded on arrival; we keep only the fact that the visit came from an advert.
Your rights (UK/EU)
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any data we hold about you by writing to the address on the contact page. We respond within thirty days. The choice below is always available here, so you can object to the optional layer at any time.
Change your mind
You are currently: undecided.
Declining after previously allowing it stops any new Microsoft Clarity activity, but cookies set during that earlier visit may remain until you clear your browser data.
