Sacred Memory
What is remembered cannot wholly be lost.

Sacred Memory is the doctrine that the Most High remembers — and that His remembering is itself a form of preservation. To be named in the record of the Most High is to be guarded from the fate the unnamed suffer in Sheol.
From this doctrine the Basilica draws its obsession with chronicle. Every name is written. Every vow is recorded. The Undercroft does not catalogue out of scholarly habit. It catalogues because the world insists on forgetting and the Basilica refuses to.
