We do not win. We do not stop fighting.

The Long Defeat is the doctrine that the present age is a managed retreat — that the kingdoms diminish, the chapels close, the bells fall silent one by one, and that the faithful are not promised the world's reversal in their own lifetimes.
What is promised is the dignity of refusal. The Basilica teaches that despair is the only loss that cannot be redeemed, because it is the one act that disqualifies the soul from being received. To remain in vow during the Long Defeat is itself the victory.
