The Chronicle of Beralt is inscribed upon the Granite of Nantes, one of the oldest standing monuments of the dwarven realm. It records the belief that burial is not an act of forgetting, but of entrusting memory to the mountain.
In the worldview of Beralt, stone is the true archive. Flesh forgets. Kingdoms fall. But the mountain endures, and what is given to it remains. This is why the dwarves do not fear death as erasure — they fear it as separation from the stone that remembers.
